Stephane CASTELLA

Drawing · Printmaking · Painting on paper · Other · Toulouse

Stéphane Castella is a French artist born in Toulouse in 1969. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts, he expresses through his explorations and compositions a way of life that he shares from his studio in Toulouse, with a particular affinity for Japanese and Mediterranean cultures, which resonate with his own personal culture. His works, with their raw and colourful character, are like snapshots of his desires, his anxieties, his obsessions… moments expressing his vibrant world made up of pleasures, desires and playfulness, in response to the world around us. Stéphane creates in a Baroque spirit. His unique paintings and drawings do not aim for perfection, but rather for the spontaneity and authenticity of a moment. With a colour palette that reflects his own personality, he takes pleasure in forcefully asserting shapes by outlining them with a single stroke, like a master glassblower. Works that continue to represent the beauty he perceives in this world, whose impermanence he constantly reminds us of. Stéphane Castella invites us to savour life ever more fully...
